Modern Day

In 2011, the USAF bombed military targets in Libya to help the international effort to enforce the United Nation's no-fly zone that was initiated after Gaddafi suppressed protestors of his dictatorship. They also see to helping other countries in similar situations. The pace of the development of Air Force technologies continues to increase as the USAF's responsibilities to uphold and protect democracy grow and develop with time.

In modern times, the United States Air Force is the most developed and largest air force in the world. They have 328,439 personnel on active duty, 74,000 in the Selected and Individual Ready Reserves, and 106,000 in the Air National Guard, and they also employ 168,900 civilian personnel.
