What is the Marine Corps Combat Instructor Ribbon Decoration?

The Marine Corps Combat Instructor Ribbon is a military award of the United States Marine Corps established by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus in August 2014. The ribbon recognizes the successful completion of a tour as a combat instructor or in a high-profile leadership position at the School of Infantry. The combat instructors at the Schools of Infantry teach all Marines the basic combat skills which make every Marine a rifleman. It is these skills which enable Marines of all military occupational specialties to be so successful in combat engagements with the enemy. Marines must complete an entire three-year tour in a qualifying billet such as the 0913 Marine Combat Instructor billet. Additionally, Marines who serve in a billet with the advanced Infantry Training Battalion such as the Reconnaissance Training Company Staff NCO, the Reconnaissance Training Continuum Manager, and Light Armored Vehicle Crewman Course Vehicle Operators.

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 is a federal law that makes it illegal for any person to falsely claim to be the recipient of certain military awards, "with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award".This decoration is covered by the Stolen Valor act. Fraudulently claiming to have received a Marine Corps Combat Instructor Ribbon can result in punishment including a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both
