What is the Combat Readiness Medal (Air Force) Decoration?

Created in 1964, the Combat Readiness Medal is an Air Force decoration issued to airmen for accomplishing sustained individual combat mission readiness on an Air Force weapon system or who have undertaken the preparedness of direct weapon-system employment. In many cases, this award goes to pilots and those who work on the United States Ballistic Missile systems. Given by Air Force Major Headquarters, it has the nickname of ?Jewish Medal? because its front design resembles the Israeli Star of David design.

How Do You Earn the Combat Readiness Medal (Air Force)?

Per the regulation, the Combat Readiness medal is awarded to "any member of U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, or Air Force Reserve, who have accomplished sustained individual combat mission readiness in an Air Force weapon system or who have undertaken the preparedness for direct weapon-system employment. A service member must have completed 24 cumulative months of sustained duty performance for the medal to be received."

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 is a federal law that makes it illegal for any person to falsely claim to be the recipient of certain military awards, "with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award".This decoration is covered by the Stolen Valor act. Fraudulently claiming to have received a Combat Readiness Medal (Air Force) can result in punishment including a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both
