What is the Air Force Basic Military Training Honor Graduate Ribbon Decoration?

The Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon is a military award of the U.S Air Force which recognizes top recruits who graduate at the top of their training classes upon completion of basic training. The Air Force Basic Military Training Honor Graduate Ribbon was established on April 3rd, 1976 by order of the Air Force Chief of Staff, General David Charles Jones. The ribbon is awarded to graduates of Air Force basic training who qualified as an honor graduate and demonstrated excellence in all areas of academic and military training. The trainee must achieve at least a 90% during the final Air Force Basic Military Training (AFBMT) physical fitness test. If the trainee fails to reach a score of at least 90 percent, the trainee is ineligible no matter how well the trainee performed in other areas of basic training. Additionally, the trainee must average over a 90 percent on written examinations, and should never fail a graded inspection. Current regulations limit the number of selectees to no more than ten percent of the graduating squadron.
