A Colonel is a field officer in the United States Army at DoD paygrade O-6. A Colonel receives a monthly basic pay salary starting at $5,870 per month, with raises up to $10,391 per month after 30 years of service. In addition to basic pay, Colonels may receive additional pay allowances for housing and food, as well as special incentive pay for hostile fire and dangerous duties.
